The BPFMC was set up in 1966 to manage the Brudenell Playing Field and Village Hall (The Barn) which had been bought in trust by the village for the recreation and leisure of the village residents and neighbourhood with the object of improving their condition of life, without distinction of sex, politics, religion or other opinions. Baston is unusual in that it is one of the few villages where both the Playing Field and Village Hall are managed by a charity rather than a Parish Council. The Playing Field and Barn belong to all the residents of the village the management committee merely manages the Trust.

The members of the BPFMC are all volunteers who manage the site but they are dependent on the support and help of the whole village to make the facilities offered a success.
